Based on information from the TVLBAI initiative,
We are pleased to announce the upcoming International School + Conference FOMO2026 – “Frontiers of Matter Wave Optics”, organized by the University of Florence in collaboration with LENS, INO, and INRIM.
The event will take place at the beautiful Poggio all’Agnello Resort, near Populonia on the southern coast of Tuscany, Italy (School September 7–11, Conference 14-18 September 2026).
The School will focus on quantum technologies based on atom interferometry. Participants will have the unique opportunity to attend an intensive one-week course covering the physics underlying atom interferometers and their applications in measuring gravity and inertial forces, probing general relativity effects, and performing fundamental physics tests.
During the Conference, world-renowned experts will discuss the community’s ongoing efforts toward exciting challenges such as:
- New tests of the Equivalence Principle
- Long-baseline atom interferometers for dark matter detection
- Development of satellite-based gravimeters for Earth observation
- Exploiting quantum entanglement to enhance sensor sensitivity
- New approaches toward high-precision measurements of the gravitational constant (G) using atom interferometry
- Emerging trends and future directions in atom interferometry
For programme details, the list of speakers, and logistical information, please visit the School + Conference webpage:
