Job description: A 3-year PhD position is available within the EC InitialTraining Network FASTQUAST at the Department of Physics, Sofia University, Bulgaria. The research field is the theory of ultrafast (femtosecond)
quantum dynamics of atoms and molecules. The specific objective is the design of novel ultrafast quantum gates, in close collaboration with 12 experimental and theoretical partner groups. The fellow will have a full-time employment contract with a salary at EU levels and own travel funds.

Essential conditions: good knowledge and expertise in theoretical quantum physics, strong motivation for research at the highest level, ability to communicate and collaborate, fluent English.

Formal conditions: Citizens of EU or of any other country, but NOT citizens of the host country (unless having lived abroad for the past 4 years). Applicants must not have resided or carried out their main activity in the host country for more than 12 months in the three years immediately prior to their recruitment. Master degree obtained within the past four years (2004-2008).
